There are several types of visas available for people that wish to work in the United States. One of them that may be perfect for you in California is L1B Visa, which is for employees that have “specialized knowledge.”

What is an L1B visa?

An L visa is an employment immigration visa that allows foreign nationals to enter the United States for the purpose of working in a managerial or executive capacity or as a worker with “specialized knowledge.” The L-visa has two subcategories: the L1A and the L1B. The L1A visa is for employees who are being transferred to the United States from an international company to work in any position. The L1B visa is for employees who have “specialized knowledge” about the company’s products or services.

What are the requirements for an L1B visa in California?

To qualify for an L1B visa in California, you must meet certain requirements:

  1. You must have worked for your employer abroad for at least one year out of the last three years.
  2. You must be coming to the United States to work in a managerial or executive capacity or as a worker with specialized knowledge.
  3. Your employer must have a branch or affiliate office in the United States.

How long can you stay in California with an L1B visa?

Generally, you can stay and work in California for three years with this visa. After which, you can renew it again for another two years. If you wish to stay longer, you may need to convert it to L1A Visa. This will give you another seven years.

If you are interested in working in the United States, an L-visa may be a good option for you. Be sure to discuss your options with your employer first before getting started on the application process.
