The annual Diversity Visa program makes permanent residence visas (“green cards”) available to persons meeting simple, but strict, eligibility requirements. Diversity Visa entries are chosen by a computer-generated random lottery drawing. The visas are distributed among six geographic regions with a greater number of visas going to regions with lower rates of immigration, and with no visas going to citizens of countries sending more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the past five years. Within each region, no one country may receive more than seven percent of the available Diversity Visas in any one year.
To find out if you qualify and to apply, go to the U.S. State Department’s Diversity Visa web site, www.dvlottery.state.gov. Keep in mind that the Diversity Visa Program is one of the easiest government programs to apply for and usually a lawyer is not necessary for the initial application. We are happy to help winners of the Diversity Visa Program complete the application process. Feel free to contact us at (866) 716-4854 and we will conduct an initial evaluation of your case free-of-charge.
